On a professional note….
I’ve been in corporate America since 1991 with 19+ years in leadership roles. I have experience in insurance, marketing, corporate training, sales, and advertising. I dabbled in several MLMs before finding my “thing”, career and professional branding. I have several insurance designations which are like degrees (those courses were tough!).
I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I got accepted into the College of Engineering as a Computer Engineer major. While I excelled in the sciences, I didn’t quite excel in Calculus. So…. because I always loved Spanish and even studied in Peru, South America, I changed my major to Spanish. Si, yo hablo español. (Well, poquito. I’m pretty rusty.) I double minored in Economics and Business Administration. This explains why I have left and right side brain power. I’m strategic while being creative which is a great combination for a coach!
I co-authored three books and have two solo books of my own – You’re HIRED! – 10 Tips to Rock Out Your Résumé to Land an Interview and You’re HIRED! – 10 Tips to Rock Out Your Interview to Land Your Dream Job available here.
I served on the board of Directors for the National Résumé Writers Association and currently serve on the board of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU), Dallas Chapter.
Last but not least, I am quadruple certified.
Certified Career Transition Coach (CCTC)
Certified Professional Résumé Writer (CPRW)
Certified Online Profile & Job Search Expert (NCOPE)
Certified Employment Interview Professional (CEIP)
I like to stay abreast of the latest trends in the career services and résumé writing industry.
I am a south side Chicago native now residing in North Texas and loving it. Married since 1999 years to a Senior Pastor (yes, I am a First Lady of the church). We have a beautiful daughter, a handsome son, and a grand-dog named BamBam. I effectionally call myself BamBam’s “maw-maw”.
I love guacamole & chips and scrapbooking. I’m addicted to Podcasts (I plan to have my own one day). I have a great sense of humor and plan to become a stand-up comedian when I retire. And, I am a bonafide library nerd, always has been and always will be. It’s a place of solitude for me and where I do my best writing.
